Process of Installing Spray Foam
Spray polyurethane foam (SPF) insulation is quick and easy to install. Most residential applications can be completed in one day. SPF is fast curing; it sets up hard in minutes. This speeds the time you can move on with your building or renovation project, saving both time and money. The spray in place system is quick, easy and reliable. It is a perfect choice for new construction homes and can be retrofitted into existing homes.
SPF Must be Applied by Trained Professionals
Spray polyurethane foam insulation is spray-applied and must be installed by a specially trained contractor with the right equipment in order to ensure proper mixture of component ingredients, proper depth of insulation depending on installation type, and proper curing of the material.
Our specially trained contractors spray the polyurethane foam insulation directly into your wall cavities between each stud, between ceiling joists for roof insulation, in attic floor joists, and crawl space or basement joists. The foam expands into all the cracks and crevices of the wall or floor space to provide a seamless, vapor barrier that adheres to all the surfaces of the exterior and interior wall cavities, forming a complete building envelope. SPF insulation is a closed-cell system that cures fast; it sets up hard in just minutes. Our contractors come to your home, spray the foam into the walls, ceilings, roof, or floor joists, make sure the product is sealed tight, trim any excess foam, and you’re good to go.
How it Works
To achieve the finish product of rigid polyurethane foam insulation, our contractors first combine two liquid components—isocyanate and polyol resin. These two components are mixed together in a one-to-one ratio and sprayed out through a specialized spraying system. Once combined, the two ingredients react quickly, creating a chemical reaction which forms the finished rigid foam material. The polyurethane foam is sprayed in place and rapidly expands 20 to 30 times its liquid state to fill in all crevices. Spray polyurethane foam is fast-curing and is completely set hard within minutes.
